72nd Field Artillery Brigade - Brigade Command Sergeant Major


COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR BERK A, PARSONS

Command Sergeant Major Berk A. Parsons entered the Army on June 19th, 1985. He attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Upon completion of Basic Airborne Training, he was assigned to Fort Bragg, NC with 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.

Command Sergeant Major Parsons has served in a variety of leadership positions from Gunner to First Sergeant, with assignments as Company Operations Sergeant, Master Gunner, Senior NCO Observer Controller (JRTC) and BN Operations Sergeant Major. His assignments include 82d ABN DIV, 3rd Battalion, 325th Airborne Battalion
Combat Team (Vicenza, Italy), Operations Group - Joint Readiness Training Center, Columbia Recruiting Battalion, several assignments to the 18th Field Artillery Brigade (Airborne), Operations Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major for 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment “On Time”. CSM Parsons has served in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom 07-09, 10 and New Dawn.

Command Sergeant Major Parsons military and civilian education includes; Primary, Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Courses, the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy class 57, Jump Master, Rappel Master, Battle Staff NCO Course, Recruiter Course and the Close Combat Instructor Course. CSM Parsons has a Baccalaureate of Science degree in Social Science from Upper Iowa University and a Masters of Arts Degree in Education from Touro University.

Command Sergeant Major Parsons military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (2OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1SLC), Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Gold Recruiter Badge with 3 Sapphires and German Army Parachutist Badge.












72ND FA BDE
72nd Field Artillery Brigade plans, coordinates, and enables post-mobilization, pre-deployment training in support of specified U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard units.

On order, 72nd Field Artillery Brigade provides pre-mobilization training assistance within its capabilities for Army Reserve and Army National Guard units.
